Why Singapore Idol sucks.
Yesterday I realised why I've always thought
the contestants' were singing weird.
They were singing the song beat for beat.
[Ok, I'm sorry if you guys already noticed this but
the Singabore Idol episodes I happen to catch are
few and far between.]
The producers should really rethink the
direction they're driving the show to. The
standard level should be raised and more
quality control should be enforced. The fact
that so much of the popluation considers the
show a farce should be a telling sign.
Why do I say this?
If the contestants do not already have the
ability to sing well, they cannot fully develop
in the competition like they are supposed to.
To develop into stars/idols.
Their vocals shouldn't have to be improving at
this stage. It should already be good or near
perfect. What should be developing is the
performing aspect of this competition, their
stage presence, connecting with the audience
and adding dimension to the song through
emotions.
That is what the competition is for.
