Last nite's episode of Singaporean Idol was
the first I caught though it's been running
for a while now.
Yes. Singaporean Idol.
That's the way it should be.
It's rather ironic how the powers that be
condone such public grammatical fallacies,
then bemoan the failing standards of the
language. Idiots.
Back to Singaporean Idol.
I understand that out of the 8 (or is it 7?)
contestants performing at each piano show,
only 2 will move on to the semi-finals.
My pick for the 2? None. I only caught the
last 4 performances so I can't really say.
But let me pass my judgement.
Annabel
Sang: Sheryl Crow's Soak Up The Sun
She had a nice tone to her voice and
passable diction but teerible voice control.
Towards the end of the song her voice was
shakey and you could hear fatigue in her
vocals.
Emilee
Sang: Shania Twain's Still The One
Terrible. Her trying to feign vocal power
was laughable. She was also too nasal, if
memory serves.
Charmaine
Sang: Stacie Orrico's Stuck On You
Wasn't any better. I thought it was a bad
song choice, can't remember much else.
Meryl
Sang: Christina Aguilera's I Turn To You
She proved she can hit that high note.
So what? The song was still too big for her.
It wasn't smooth and she had terrible voice
control for someone who claims to sing alot.
I'm sorry but what kind of standard is this?
Is this really the best out of that whole lot of
people who queued for hours on end to take
part in this? Something is not right here.
Though with those judges, it isn't too
suprising. They should just keep their day
jobs because judging is clearly not their
forte.
That said, the prized quote of the day goes
to Mr Dick Lee.
"This is not a hair style contest."
Let's all thank Dick for stating the obvious.
